Sold out or closed today
One tap on the dashboard tells Google, your website widget and your review requests that you're sold out or closed for the day. It goes back to normal at midnight.
Sold out by two, or closing for the day? The Today card on your dashboard has two buttons: Sold out today and Closed today. One tap does three things, and they all go back to normal at midnight on their own.
The buttons are on every plan, for anyone who can change the listing: owners and managers, unless the owner changes that for someone on Group. Everyone else sees what's set without the buttons. If you have more than one location, pick one location or All locations first.
What changes
- Your Google hours. Closed today sets today's hours on Google to closed. Google has no "sold out", so sold out sets today's hours to end now: Google shows you closed from this minute. If Google already shows you closed for the rest of today, nothing changes. If your usual hours aren't on your Google listing, we leave it alone and say so.
- Your website widget. If you have the website widget, it shows a short note at the top: Sold out for today or Closed today. It can take about 10 minutes to show on your site, and it disappears at midnight.
- Review requests. Requests due today wait until tomorrow morning, so nobody is asked about a day you were closed. None are skipped. Texts still go out only between 9 AM and 7 PM in the customer's own time. On the Requests page they show Held for today (sold out or closed). See Why a request hasn't gone out yet.
Undo
Tapped it by mistake, or opening again? Undo works any time that day. Your Google hours go back to what they were, the website note goes away, and held requests go out as usual.
Tomorrow
You don't need to do anything. At midnight in your time zone, the website note goes away and held requests start going out. Google only ever had special hours for that one day, so your usual hours show again.
Tell people on Google (Crew and Group)
On the Crew and Group plans, the card also shows a short Google post you can send, such as "We've sold out for today. Thanks to everyone who came in. We're back tomorrow at 7 AM." Change the words if you like, then tap Post to Google. Nothing is posted until you tap it. See Google posts.
