Review requests

Why a request hasn't gone out yet

The reasons a review request waits in the queue, what the Requests page says for each, and what you can do.

Most requests go out within a few minutes. When one waits, the Requests page says why under its status. Here's what each reason means.

Outside texting hours

Texts go out only between 9 AM and 7 PM in the customer's own time, Monday to Saturday. A text queued outside that shows, for example, Held until Mon 9 AM (customer's time). This follows state texting laws, so it can't be turned off. See Texting needs consent.

No texts on holidays

Pennsylvania bars texts like these on its legal holidays, such as Thanksgiving, Good Friday and Election Day. We keep those days for every text, wherever the customer lives: a phone's area code doesn't show who has moved, and the fines are steep. A text due on one shows No texts on holidays and waits until the next day with texting hours, for example Held until Thu 9 AM (customer's time). Nothing is dropped.

One text a day per person

Each person gets at most one text from your business in any 24 hours. If they already had one, the next waits until the 24 hours are up and shows the time it goes out. Nothing is dropped.

Outside your sending hours

If you've narrowed your sending hours in Settings → Review requests, requests wait for them, and the time shown is in your time zone. Emails also keep to 8 AM to 9 PM in your time zone.

Spread out to keep your review pace steady

Google can pause new reviews on a profile that suddenly gets a lot of them. So each location sends a steady number a day, and the rest wait for the next day with room. These show Spread out to keep your review pace steady with the day they go out, and a note at the top of the page says how many are waiting. Nobody is skipped. See Ask a customer for a review.

Held for today (sold out or closed)

If you marked a location Sold out today or Closed today on the dashboard, its requests wait until tomorrow morning and show Held until the next day. Nobody is skipped. Undo puts them back to going out as usual. See Sold out or closed today.

Waiting for your texting registration

Texts go out only from your business's own registered number, and there's no shared number to fall back on. Until the carriers approve your registration, text requests show Texting registration in review with Waits until your texting registration is approved (or Texting isn't registered yet with Waits until texting is registered if you haven't started), with no send time, and go out as soon as it's approved. Email and QR code requests aren't affected. See Register for texting.

Texts or emails are turned off

If Send review requests by text or Send review requests by email is off in Settings → Review requests, requests on that channel wait until it's back on.

Not switched on yet

Texting and request emails each need an outside approval first. While either is off, the Requests page shows a banner and those requests wait. See What's switched on today.

Email paused after spam reports

If too many people mark your request emails as spam, we pause your request emails to protect your sending. Queued emails wait and texts still go. See Email requests and unsubscribes.

Your plan is paused or has ended

  • Paused: requests that were waiting when you paused are cancelled, and new ones can't be sent until you resume. See Pause or cancel your plan.
  • Trial over or plan ended: your account is read-only. Queued requests stay queued and go out once you choose a plan on Billing.

Still waiting?

You can Cancel a queued request on the Requests page. If one has waited longer than any of these explain, email support@getblythe.com.
